I experience exactly this problem as well. Has anyone found the fix? Is it really down to a misbehaving card as suggested above? Unfortunately I do not have another card to compare performance.
When the sound is lost it is replaced by a pop/crackle sound, however the sound always returns if I fast-forward or rewind a little. Mythbackend reports "prebuffering pause" each time this occurs. I find I experience the loss of sound and pop/crackle noises during live playback as well as recordings. My setup is Nova-T 9002 (cx88), on FC3 kernel 2.6-10 and Pundit-R hardware.
