Was that the standard-def TiVo or the TiVo that handles HDTV as well?

For High Definition, yes, that's the recommendation. You can get by on much
less for Standard Definition programming. TiVo handles almost everyting with
proprietary decoder solutions that offload video decoding from the main
processor. Myth needs to do the bulk of the heavy lifting with the cpu,
hopefully with a bit of assistance from the video card.

Not really. You have to understand what's trying to be accomplished and the
hardware involved a bit better.

No.

You don't have a prayer if you're thinking High Definition. You're probably
around the edge of viability for Standard Definition.

There are folks using EPIA systems w/600MHz C3 processors, which is probably
pretty similar cpu-power-wise to a dual PII-300... You may need a PVR-350 to
do the output for you, even a GeForce FX card may not be enough assistance
for something that slow, not really sure. I do get perfect playback of
Standard Definition recordings on an Athlon 800 w/a GF4MX. Seriously though,
a faster motherboard and cpu combo doesn't cost much. Save yourself the
headache and get some newer hardware.

Oh yeah, and please read the official Myth docs on the subject:
