I don't understand why Axel doesn't just build with nvidia xvmc enabled, and patch the default so that xvmc is not _used_ by default, to avoid trouble with those who still are having xvmc problems -- though their number is dwindling among cvs users. Then he would only need a special distro to support unichrome.
