Well, I guess I didn't know if the mythtv-suite contained the whole thing, or if it was split up among the different sections.
mythtv-suite is a virtual package with no actual contents, just dependencies
on all the myth packages on ATrpms. So you can safely:
# rpm -e mythtv-suite # rpm -e mythphone mythgame mythgallery etc
I was just hoping to speed up my machine a bit, but maybe I should change from Fedora Core 3 to something lighter.
Fedora Core 3 is plenty fast. Changing a distribution entirely does not a
faster machine make. Disable all services you don't need, switch to a very
lightweight window manager, etc., and the performance difference between FC3
and any other distro is typically marginal at best.
A list of services that can safely be disabled on a Myth box would be a good addition to the guide. Just a thought - I have no idea what some of those processes that ps and top reports are actually doing... :)
