I sent this to the ivtv-devel list a few weeks back and never heard anything.
I'm hoping someone on this list can help me out...
I'm having a small problem with my Avermedia M179's. The audio has some light
static in it. I also can't seem to change the volume setting with ivtvctl.
System info:
kernel 2.6.10-1.741_FC3
ivtv-kmdl-2.6.10-1.741_FC3-0.2.0-63_rc3e.rhfc3.at
ivtv-0.2.0-64_rc3f.rhfc3.at
ivtv-firmware-enc-2.04.024-4.at
I'm using the S-Video inputs to the cards. I recently upgraded this from
0.1.9, but with the old version I was using the tuner input (not svideo/audio
input), so it's hard to tell why the problem crept in. I switched from the
tuner inputs because of the better video quality of svideo, and because the
video would eventually get purplish bands in it (which required a complete
poweroff and reboot).
I can change the all of the settings except for the volume. When I try to
change the volume, ie 'ivtvctl -y volume=50000' I get a "success" message,
but then checking it with -Y shows it hasn't changed:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] klk]# ivtvctl -Y
ioctl: VIDIOC_QUERYCTRL
Brightness = 127
Contrast = 63
Saturation = 63
Hue = 0
Volume = 65535
Mute = 0
[EMAIL PROTECTED] klk]# ivtvctl -y volume=50000
ioctl: VIDIOC_S_CTRL
ioctl: VIDIOC_S_CTRL success
[EMAIL PROTECTED] klk]# ivtvctl -Y
ioctl: VIDIOC_QUERYCTRL
Brightness = 127
Contrast = 63
Saturation = 63
Hue = 0
Volume = 65535
Mute = 0
I got the same result with a 0.3 version from atrpms (a few weeks ago, can't
recall the exact version). I've checked the list archives and came across a
few things, but they were relatively old and had no resolution. Maybe since
the volume is set to max, it's being clipped? It's certainly not an
overpowering static noise, but definitely noticeable and annoying :-)
Thanks for any help,
Kristo
