Hi. Let me chime in with my 2c. I got a new machine that came unexpectedly with a 140G sata instead of the spec'd 40G IDE. Had to do the manual install. The only difference I could tell between a kernel-supported SATA and IDE is that the SATA came in as /dev/sda instead of /dev/hda. So I suspect if auto-install was made to detect scsi-named drives it would Just Work. Tony
