I wish I could figure out how to get it installed and working properly.
It's in my secondary frontend/backend at the moment (operating as a
backend fine, though the card won't tune so the backend is left down to
ensure that it's not used) happily presenting /dev/dvb/adapter0 entries,
showing the following in "dmesg" output...

...and so on and so forth. Googling for "filter timeout pid 0x0011"
yeilds lots of results - most of the in languages other than English which
Google doesn't understand either, many of them referring to DVB-S as
well... Yes, the frequencies are correct - it works fine on the the Nova-T
in the main backend which records SDTV nicely.
I too am using dual Avermedia 771s with no problems (and yes I am also in
Melbourne, getting all stations perfectly). I don't remember having any
troubles getting the avermedias working. I use linuxtv-dvb 1.1.1 for the
drivers, not the standard drivers that come with FC2 maybe that is the
difference.
I found it difficult to set them up with a stock FC2 install (using
Jarods guide) but the main problem was my lack of linux knowlegde. A
linux savvy mate helped me and it is working fine now.
Where did you go wrong? This one really has me stumped, and with the
addition of ABC 2 to the list of channels that seems to have stuff pop up
that I want to record (albeit repeated ad-nauseum) the second card would
be really useful around now... :)
I don't like the idea of HD yet. I don't have the horsepower, or the
storage capacity for it at the moment. SD Digital looks great so I am
happy.
Never got it to work here properly either... the Nova-T either doesn't
like HDTV or the PC is too slow (probably the RAM which was scrounged up
from older machines) to handle the data - it skips and jumps like mad.
I am thinking of getting a third avermedia in the near future.
Either you watch a damned lot of television or you don't live in
Australia... :) With only 5 FTA channels (7 if you include SBS News and
ABC 2 - though I'm yet to see anything worth recording on SBS News sinceI
only speak English) there isn't enough around to record.
