Thanks for the suggestion but I tried that. It didn't make a jot of difference (and I did remember to run lilo after editing the lilo.conf - eventually).

Hi
To get the console unscrambled you need to set:

vga=normal

in lilo.conf which is usually in /etc
don't forget to run lilo after editing the file.
I believe that there is a similar setting in grub if you use that, but I am
not familiar with that boot up system.
As you mentioned this has been mentioned previously, I came accross it when
trying to set up a sytem using an nVidea MX440 TVout to drive the tv and the
VGAout to drive a monitor for web surfing.
This problem also occurs on the monitor when going to a terminal.

Hope this fixes your problem and you get MythTv working successfully.

Best Regards

I hope this hasn't been answered a hundred times before but I searched the

I am using Knoppmyth to run a test system with MythTv. I am using an nVidia
5200 card with TVOut. It works fine but since I am still testing it would
be nice to be able to Ctrl-Alt-F1 to a console (XTerm is too small/fuzzy to
be really workable). However when I change to the console screen I just get
scrambled lines as though the horizontal hold has gone.

I am not familiar enough with the XF86Config-4 file to know what needs to
be changed (and I'm not sure that's where the problem lies since X displays
perfectly well). Also the text output during bootup displays perfectly
well.
