The alternative, that we currently use, is to set each program up to "record only this time", so you can manually adjust the end time for each time slot. Unfortunately, TV stations seem to swap/change TV shows so often that this frequently results in missing a show.
I've also use the global 'record an extra number of seconds' option which
gets ignored if recording string together, or manually scheduling the block
of time instead.
Huge time swaps dont happen all that often, usually what happens is the guide data gets changed between grabbing and recording. It worth grabing each days today fresh every morning.
