Yes,
this was the first thing I thought about.
I give it a quick try, but I only found docs, how to receive information
that a key is pressed on the server (where the lird is running). But I
do not found any notes what I have to send, so the lircd thinks a remote
control is used. At least not on the lircd site and using a quick search
on google.
So it was no problem to control my living room from my server, but this
was the wrong direction :-)
If someone has this docs, I will be happy to receive a hint were to get
them.

how about lirc over IP?

Subject: [mythtv-users] remote control a mythtv box
Hi group,
I want to controll my mythtv box remotly over ethernet.
Is there a "protocoll" to controll a mythtv box remotly using a tcp or
udp connection from an other system.
My mythtv box is placed in an other room, and I want to controll it from
my controll system already present in the living room. The only possible
connection is an existing ethernet connection.
Maybe there is a way to "simulate" keypresses ? Or even better a remote
controll protocoll to say play the currently selected item, go up in the
menu and so on.
Hope someone here has a good tip for me.
