The whole thread has been about debunking that myth. California prices are not that far from the national average: http://www.coaleducation.org/Ky_Coal_Facts/electricity/average_cost.htm 100 watts per year at average California prices is about $83 bucks, and that ASSUMES it draws 100 watts 24/7/365, which is not a valid assumption.
