I enabled NTP to keep my time up to date. When I have a network connection, the PC boots fine. However, when a network connection is not present, the machine hangs on boot right after it tries start NTP. I do not currently have a network connection by my TV (I will be running cable soon), and this also concerns me in case my internet connection goes out. If I remove NTP, it boots fine with and without network. Has anyone run into this before?
Disable NTP at boottime and run it from cron (or anacron) instead, then you won't experience that timeout problem.
