irexec is your friend. Here is what I use in my
lircrc file:
begin
prog = irexec
button = Power
repeat = 1
config = killall -9 X
end
Not gracefull, but entirely functional. Obviously you would want
"button" to correspond to whatever keypress you wanted to use...
