Not to state the obvious, but this looks like a permissions issue. The program guide and list of recorded programs are database entries, not the files themselves.
It is quite possible that mythtv is able to read the database but is not logged into the remote system that is holding your recordings, or does not have read privileges for the media directory, or because sharing has not been properly configured. Mythtv is an interface for other tools that actually play the media files -- in this case mplayer. You shouldn't have a problem playing mpeg4 with mplayer, although it is possible that mythtv doesn't have privileges to run mplayer. If it was a problem with mplayer, you wouldn't be getting an 'Access Denied' message. If you still have problems, try posting a bit more information -- what kind of system the recorded files live on (Linux, Mac mini, XP laptop, etc), how the network is integrated (smb share over 802.11g, nfs over ethernet, etc), what other networking components work or don't work, the format of the files you're having trouble with (not just mpeg4 but specific format, e.g. divx, xvid), etc. Also, what is the origin of the problem files (did you create them yourself?), and have they played successfully on other platforms? Everyone's Mythtv setup is different and there is rarely one right answer to a given problem. The more information you can provide, the easier it will be to troubleshoot your problem _______________________________________________ mythtv-users mailing list [email protected] http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users
