i manually entered numbers for SBS and TEN but when I try to navigate to these
channels MythTV tries for a second and then returns to the previous channel.
Channels ABC, SEVEN and NINE are all viewable but no EPG data is available.

I am thinking it may be a problem with my tv_grab_au script, but does anyone
have any ideas as to what may have happened ? Or more importantly how to
fix ?

Hi,
So, I didn't do a full scan to get my channels in Sydney. I manually entered the transport frequencies using the advanced option in MythTV, and then I chose the 'scan existing transports' option. That got me all the frequencies.

Once there, you should have a huge list of channels. You then need to match them up with the guide data. Firstly, which tv_grab_au are you using. There are a few: http://www.cse.unsw.edu.au/~willu/xmltv/ . I'm using the d1.com.au grabber at the moment, but I'm looking at switching to the tvguide.org.au one once I've debugged it.

In that list, I go through, select each channel, and set XMLTV id appropriately, set the channel icon path, clear the visible flag on most of the extra channels (e.g. TEN Digital 2).

What you describe doesn't actually sound like an XMLTV grabber problem. It sounds like a tuning issue. Is that a frontend or a backend log? Have you got a "-v record" on your backend?

Cheers,

Will           :-}
