There is also a way to do this via the xorg.conf file, I think there were some posts about this a little while ago.
doubt it would be in xorg.conf / XF86Config ... if anything it'd be in the KDM, GDM, XDM, Xsession files ... unfortunately those are very distro-specific (oftentimes, at least), but one could go through and figure out how to do it the "proper" way
