I have an onboard nforce2 MCP-T chip, but I'm using the analog out. I don't have a receiver, nor digital speakers. Oh well.
Anyway, I have mythtv set up to use mixed-analog, as defined in the mythtv.info sound article. I'm using that asound.conf http://www.mythtv.info/moin.cgi/DigitalSoundHowTo Anyway, mythtv controls the master volume control, with pcm pegged at 100%. It almost works ok. The problem is that when volume is at 0%, I still hear sound out of the speakers, albeit quietly. The other problem is with mythvideo. I'm trying to use mplayer to view my videos, but I can't control the volume properly. Here's my mplayer line: mplayer -fs -zoom -quiet -vo xv -ao alsa -mixer-channel Master,0 -channels 6 %s When I adjust the volume in mplayer, I can watch the master bar move in alsamixer, but there is zero change in volume. The power to the speakers always stays exactly the same. 0% is as loud as 100%. I don't understand why the bar moves, but there is no change in actual volume. I don't use the pcm mixer because that does not change the center volume - the speech in movies, which is the most critical thing to be able to turn up. _______________________________________________ mythtv-users mailing list [email protected] http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users
