What versions of KDE and qt are you using? There's a problem with one of the newer versions of qt on Fedora that can screw with the way buttons are displayed. I hit it when I upgraded to KDE 3.4. I believe the "fix" is to downgrade to an older version of qt (3.3.3, I think). This may not be your problem, but it might be worth trying.
