(Disclaimer: I work for a company in the video headend space, and I've worked in the DOCSIS cable modem industry for three years - those three years, being regulated by CableLabs.)
I haven't read the documents at the link yet, but you already know my opinions, as we've discussed them. The cable industry in the U.S. is looking for the cheapest possible way to continue with their monopoly and aren't investing in the future at all. They've backed themselves into a corner that they just can't escape from. At least in Europe they're investing heavily in the infrastructure and trying new things. The U.S. cable operators will be hit hard by IPTV, it's not a question of "if", it's a question of "when". -- Joe --- Dean Collins <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > http://www.cablelabs.com/conferences_public/MB2005/ > > I was going to scan a few of these presentations > from the paper copy I > received on the day and email them but they just > emailed me the link. > > > > I have a number of comments to make but to be honest > I'm still forming > my ideas, my initial reaction though is the US cable > industry is in for > a real shock.
