Well, all of the above - plus the fact that I don't have cx88-atsc on my stsrem - just goes to show that there are many way to get the HD-3000 card to work ! Over-the-air TV from the antenna on the roof is the only input for my HD-3000. It might be worth a try to install xawtv and see if it will use my HD-3000 without the firmware being uploaded.
