Hi all
I am a newbie to MythTV, primarily in the info collection stage. I have
been reading heaps on MythTV and definitely like what I see. Originally
I was looking to build a replacement for our aging video recorder but
after my travels I now will be building a PVR, so I am currently working
my way through Jarod's excellent document on installing MythTV.
I was going to ask about hardware etc but won't. For now I will build a
test machine using an old PIII 550MHz machine with 512Mb ram, SBLive!
audio, Nvidia GeForce2 MX 64Mb video and probably a DBT capture card. My
wife wants proof-of-concept it will work before she will let me spend
money on a bigger box with big hard drives.
Anyway, I just wanted to check a couple of things before I embark on the
adventure. I am in Australia, Riverstone NSW actually (2765). We have a
Digimatch antenna on the roof, currently receiving analog channels via
Wollongong as the Sydney signals are rubbish. There is also a Kingray
power injector used to boost the signal. This setup provides 2, 7
(Prime), 9 (WIN), 10 (?) & SBS. We also have Foxtel Digital coming in
via a satellite dish. Question: is this antenna suitable for SDTV or
will I have to upgrade?
Now, one area of confusion is how these MythTV boxes fit into the mix.
Will installing a MythTV box take away the ability to view "normal" TV,
that is does the aerial lead/Foxtel feed go into the MT box vs the TV
like it is now? Are there any diagrams floating around that explain the
interconnection of the bits?
We have a Blaupunkt 70cm TV with 2 scart inputs and a standard aerial
input - usable?
