Which kernel version? There are bugs filed against XFS with similar
problems, seems to be a known issue occuring with XFS under high
loads. It is *supposed* to be recoverable, but it will pause your
system for several seconds, probably not good for recording in real
time. Commflagger may get confused by pauses and takes forever trying
to slice your recordings to ribbons.
Kernel is 2.6.8. I'm running SuSE 9.2 (2.6.8-24.14).
I chose XFS because I read on a MythTV thread somewhere that it handled
large files well.
I use XFS and the only time I had a problem was when the kernel (2.6.7
at the time) was compiled for 4k stacks. IIRC, this was fixed in kernel
2.6.9.
