Thanks Phil & Johan

I just spoke to Lakeside and that card is for the analog Foxtel service only and it does not look like anything is around that can handle the digital service. In the sales persons words "proably because Foxtel want to lock you into their own PVR...." - I suspect he is right. So it is back to recording the analog signal instead.

Cheers

Bruce,

I have a Hauppauge WinTV Nova-S-CI that works with the original foxtel
'analogue'. You need to purchase an Irdeto cam and have a valid
subscriber smart card.
So far I'm not aware of anyone decoding the foxtel digital stream as
the NDS crypto they use is not public and no aftermarket cam is
available.
The card itself is good. I'm still having a few problems though that
are either driver or cam related causing problems with descrambling
after a few days. Also the card and cam combination is kinda
expensive, I think it was around $400-$500 by the time I bought all
the bits.

HI all

Another question as I work my way through things and getting closer to
starting.....

Does MythTV work with DVB-S satellite cards? Just wondering as I found
one that is designed for Foxtel and could be a solution to recording the
digital stream direct
(http://www.lakopacific.com/public/showProduct.asp?id=915). More
research needed on that but has potential...

Cheers
