Thanks for the replies everyone. Matthew Mrosko: That is an awesome idea with the distcc. My local computer supplier had some GX150's for sale a while ago and I never thought to pick them up for front ends. I'll definately look into it. I had planned on using Xboxes, but this sounds like a better way to go. One question: What did you use for remotes?
Scott: I run RHEL on my server at my office. I'm very happy with it. Awesome uptime, and the life cycle is great too. I don't plan on a reload until I replace the server. I was successful getting a kernel compiles on gentoo last night on my test laptop, so I think getting it to run myth should be feasable for me. I've only ever used precompiled kernels from RedHat, so this was something new to me. Bob Weber: Thanks for the vote as well. I plan on starting out my master backend small the first time around. I just have a PVR-350 in it for now using the TVOut on the 350. I have a PVR-250 card as well as a Nexxus 2.1 card for the RPT channel on AMC4 I plan to pull in as well. My wife is portuguese and she watches soaps on there a bit, so that will be nice for her. I'll install this weekend and see how I make out. I learned alot from Jarods guide about mythtv and ivtv in general, so I will be able to apply that to my gentoo install. Thanks everyone. -- -=/>Thom _______________________________________________ mythtv-users mailing list [email protected] http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users
