It works! I knew it was something simple... That mysql.txt file was the trick. Nowhere in the documentation did I see that file specifically mentioned other then the section on setting up remote front ends. (Which I suppose this is too...) Even there it doesn't tell you what it's for. Once I got those access denied error from editing these files.. (I changed all 3x of them, /.mythtv/msql.txt, and the ones for root, and my myth user) I looked into it a little further... I thought I had allowed access from the slave to the master DB... I didn't have that so I added it, ran mythtvsetup again on the slave, got in fine this time and was able to add a new card + add the source to it... At first it didn't work. Once I restart the mythbackend on the master it did... so I added the tuner on the master, restarted again.. golden! I think the documentation needs to be updated to make that whole process more clear.
