On my Gentoo install this works. Something I learned the hard way was
this is one of those prefs where after making a change the backend
needs to be restarted. So for me it was a matter of:
1) Set the preference
2) Exit mythfrontend
3) Restart mythtbackend
4) Startup mythfrontend again
