For me it just worked like a second mouse in fedora core 2 3 and 4 and then follow the instructions from the LIRC section on my remote wonder web page http://www.litwiller.net/mythtv/remote.html
In Fedora core 3 and 4, I just put the /etc/modules.conf lines near the top of the modprobe.conf file I need to edit that page it looks like. I would appreciate someone makeing/contributing a better ~/.mythtv/lircrc file that uses the buttons better.
