This is one of the few lacks of mythtv.
I record movies with an additional 20 minutes but don't want to delete this when recordings are consecutive and i have not enough
tuners spare.
There should be an option in myth which allows it to record up to the EPG end time and start recording the next recording when
recordings are consecutive.

Thanks to all who have spoken up about this behaviour. If I can summarise:
With dual tuners and global pre/post program time buffers, MythTV will discard
the global buffering for consecutive programs and record them both from the one
card. For program specific pre/post buffering, however, this will be honoured
and consecutive programs taken from different cards.
This seems very counter-intuitive to my thinking and I definitely want to try
and "fix" it. A few ways I can think of:
1. When a card starts recording, switch the default card to the other one so
that when the next recording starts (anytime), it uses the other card.
Sorry to grave-dig this thread, but I've just submitted a patch to implement
(more or less) solution #1:

As an Aussie, this has been by far my biggest irk with MythTV. With this patch, Myth will schedule one of the consecutive programs
to a free tuner, if by doing so it will be able to honour the global under/overrecord setting and not disrupt anything else.
Of course, an even better solution would have been to get Australian TV stations to show their programs at the advertised time...
but let's not get silly.
Max.
