Is there any tips (besides using a better connection method) for tweaking svideo output? Forgive my constant apples and oranges comparison here... but in the windows world, you can do a lot to improve picture quality by using a better MPEG2 software decoder, like the nvidia pure video one. Is there something analogous to "installing a better mpeg2 decoder" for linux playback? I mean, if someone has an Nvidia FX5200 with noisey substandard tv out components/cables nothing is going to help short of replacment. But if the problem is more of the GIGO variety, it think there's room for some tips/tricks/configuration help.
