You'd have an S-Video connection between your cable box and the
S-Video input on a capture card (thus not using the tuner on the
capture card at all). The cable box puts out whatever it is tuned to
through the S-Video connection - the inability to tune to different
channels using this method results in the requirement for an
IR-Blaster to control the cable box from the computer.
