I need to control two separate digital-cable boxes with one serial or USB connection. Most new motherboards only have one serial connection. Also, I found out the following from the usb-uirt support yesterday: ------------ - The USB-UIRT can be wired to run two separate 'channels' from its external emitter jack. - To do this, you must custom-wire a stereo plug to two emitters or buy a splitter which separates our the L and R channels to two mono jacks which can then be used with any off-the-shelf emitter. - The current lirc patch (written by another user) does not support this 'zone' functionality - Work is underway for a USB-UIRT specific Lirc daemon which will support this functionality. ------------ It sounds like I can use the USB-UIRT today for one cable box and in the future I can add the second cable box when lirc is updated to support the L/R zone split. There is also the InnovationOne CommandIR product that is current in beta and supports 4 separate emitters. It's also supported by lirc today (http://www.innovationone.ca/products/commandir/). /Brian/ -- Brian Long | | | IT Data Center Systems | .|||. .|||. Cisco Linux Developer | ..:|||||||:...:|||||||:..
