I thought that the answer to this might be in the archives, but after scanning through pages of them using different terms, I'm not so sure...
I upgraded to ivtv-0.3.8 tonight, and put my PVR-350 back in the machine (so I have a PVR-350 and a PVR-500). I've decided to switch to the PVR-350 MPEG-2 decoder rather than using xv (I can't get the xv output to fill the screen without overscan and stuff). Plus, the PVR-350 MPEG-2 decoder output is pretty darn slick. Anyway, back to the point... I have connected the PVR-350 audio output to my soundcard's (Creative SBLive 5.1) Line-In, and I get sound coming out of the sound card without a problem. The catch though is that I can't adjust the volume level within MythTV (pressing Vol+/Vol- or Mute doesn't actually change/mute the volume). Well, okay, that's not actually quite true - there are two ways that I can do this: 1. Allow MythTV to control the Master volume instead of the PCM, or, 2. Change the Line-In volume within alsamixer while watching a recording. Option (1) is undesireable, since it affects everything else on the system (xmame, xine, etc). Option (2) sucks, since I have to SSH in and run alsamixer. Does somebody have a solution to this problem? If not, then I guess I'll make a patch that adds support for selecting the Line-In volume as the volume that gets changed by the volume controls. (Audio page of General Setup, "Mixer Controls" option.) Thanks, Joe __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
