Thanx, I solved my problems by using SSH instead of telnet. Apparently SSH is automatically installed - which I would not have guessed. And the right arrow key works great - thanx!

Subject: Re: [mythtv-users] Navigation/Configuration issues

I am having a problem trying to navigate through the setup. For example, in
mythtv-setup, I am able to move to the desired fields using arrows and tabs,
but not able to use any pull-down menus. Is there a way to do any or all of
the following:

To navigate the "pull-downs" you use right and left arrow which takes
you to the next or previous item. They don't actually pull down.

1. Use a mouse in the MythTV user and setup menus?

Yes, it's possible. Install the vnc-server package. In xorg.conf add
this line to the Section "Module" part:
Load "vnc"

That will let you connect from another box running a vnc client.

2. Use a dual screen setup, where I can do the stuff on the monitor and
watch the TV on the TV. Alternately, can I at least get the non-graphical
terminal on the monitor? Right, it boots on the monitor and switches to the
TV and that is very hard to read. On the monitor all I see is a blinking
cursor.

You could press Alt-F1 to switch to a console. Or Alt-F2 to Alt-F6 to
get more consoles up. Or, I think some video drivers (such as nVidia)
allow you to do that. Have a look at
ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/1.0-6106/README.txt which
may explain how to do it if you have an nVidia card.

3. Can I set up a telnet server on the myth box? If so, how.

Yes - better to use openssh-server. Google to find out how to do that.

One other thing, I once helped someone else when they were setting up myth,
and I remember there was some configuration to change the screen sizes so
parts of it would not be cut off. Where can I change that? I have not been
able to find it since.

Heaps about this in the mailing list archieve.

Regards,
Phill
