Thank you very much for helping me clear that up. Yes, I feel Deon was very harsh. That was my first greeting this morning when checking my email. I really didn't appreciate it in the least. It almost maid me feel like ripping Myth off my system and going to something else. I admit I'm new here, and that's always a problem, but when a user does ask for help, it's been my exp. To either answer, offer advice, or a link of a resource that person may not have found. There is no FAQ avail for this forum, nor any other information. There were issues with my e-mail server so I'd not gotten my welcome message, with a proper link on how to post. I try my best to RTFM and this project has involved a lot of reading, which I happily do. My issues were not covered in any troubleshooting document or FAQ that I could find. I guess I've become all too familiar with forums and forgotten how messages like this work. I believe on other groups doing what I did works.
Should I re-post my original message? I think that would confuse the issue more than help. I really would like to figure this thing out, and get it all working the way it's supposed to. Granted it may not be designed for music and I may actually need to find something different for that. In the future the PVR functions would be quite handy, but that's not my current goal of setup with this system. First; the Deon was too harsh; no one is "new" to email. In my opinion "Thread Hijacking" is not a big deal since it mainly hurts the new poster, not original poster. I write-off 90% of the threads for one reason or another (usually because the issue is resolved). If you thread on one of them with a new topic, you don't get noticed. If you start a new thread, you are noticed. (I realized _some_ hijacks create a ton of noise and the original thread is not resolved, so that is bad.) Second, you didn't take care of the threading because you didn't remove the SMTP header: In-Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> ...so everyone's email programs still thread your message onto the one you responded to. :-) Todd ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joshua Orr" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "'Discussion about mythtv'" <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, September 29, 2005 10:47 AM Subject: RE: [mythtv-users] Noob Question.... Well, thank you so much for the advice, I am not new to Email, however I am new to this group and not necessarily aware of how things work. I thought I took care of the thread thing, by changing the subject line. It wasn't my attempt to hijack anything. I intended to find the proper resources for this program, and the proper forum to ask my questions from. Insults aside, I thought this was the proper venue to request assistance, if it's not I'll happily leave it aside and go where I can find some assistance, or find another program. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Deon Bredenhann Sent: Thursday, September 29, 2005 3:07 AM To: Discussion about mythtv Subject: Re: [mythtv-users] Noob Question.... Please do not post a new message by replying to an existing message. This is called thread high-jacking. Some of us read the messages as a threaded discussion, and your message pops up in the middle of the thread.
