Not really able to answer your question, apart from to say that even on
a monitor, moving text (e.g. credits) is never very clear..
If anyone has a solution to this, I'd also be very interested to hear it :)

Hi,
I was wondering if the output quality is better if I use a video card with
mpeg2 decoding, instead of one without.
I use a PVR-150 for encoding, and a GeForce4 MX440 with S-Video out for
output, but I imagine that the decoding is done in software?
Overall the video quality is good. It's a little soft, I'd like to have it
sharper, and also it's quite noticeable if, for example, credits are
scrolling by on the screen... that certainly causes some jerkyness, I guess
quickly scrolling text doesn't come out very good. And I was wondering if
decoding was done in hardware on the card, if stuff like that would be of
better quality.
Having said that, what video cards have mpeg2 decoding? I know the PVR-350
has it, but that's also a capture card. Are there output-only video cards
with mpeg2 decode, which don't cost an arm and a leg?
Is there a good software alternative? Should I apply some filters? Is there
a way to improve the sharpness and also not get the jerkyness on stuff like
scrolling text?
Thanks for any help.
