So there's no way around this?  I don't have an SPDIF-out, so that's not really an option for me.  I just want to use the same control for MythMusic as I do for MythTV -- you'd think this would be the norm.  No way to compile MythMusic with ALSA, or to make its OSS controls work on a machine using ALSA drivers?

MythTV is likely using the ALSA mixer (set as 'default' ) to control
your audio. MythMusic uses OSS and so could be using a different
control that the ALSA mixer does not control (if using ALSA with
OSS-emulation. I use SPDIF-out so don't have this problem, but seem to
recall a similar post a few weeks back.
