While researching how to do this (I had forgotten exactly what was involved), I noticed the latest stable ivtv had changed, so I upgraded to ivtv-0.4.0, and now the audio works!

While researching how to do this (I had forgotten exactly what was involved), I noticed the latest stable ivtv had changed, so I upgraded to ivtv-0.4.0, and now the audio works!
