Run mythtv-setup on the server. There's two places under General
that you need to put in the IP address of your backend. Make sure
you are using a real IP address (on your internal network I assume)
and not a local loopback address of localhost or 127.0.0.1. I don't
know Knoppmyth either, but I assume you can get into setup via
command line somehow....

You probably should modify the Master Server settings
in the setup program and set the proper IP address.

that is when i try and watch live tv. the backend is running and i
can connect to the mysql database so the network is obviously up. i
haven't had a chance to figure this step out yet.

I can't find anything in the stuff about mythcontext either. So is
mysql compiled in? I get teh same error no matter whoes build i
