Just a quick follow-up, this seems to be working for me:

The DVD menu now appears as it should, even after a reboot.
Note that as I was messing around today I switched dvd drives from DVD-ROM to a DVD-ROM/CD-RW. Not sure if that had any effect or not...

Which is good for CD's, but not for DVD's.

DVD's are not iso9660, they're udf. I don't know why Jarod's guide
suggests iso9660, but I'd guess he was suggesting that for a CD drive,
not for a DVD drive used for both DVD's and CD's. Otherwise, it must be
to work around some problem in FC4, in which case you can just ignore me...
Huh, I don't know if Jarod was trying for some kind of work-around or not. I have been playing with this for a few minutes and am now to the point where Matt is; the monitoring doesn't seem to work and the menu doesn't appear.
I'm out of time, though. I'll play around with this some more tomorrow.
