As I understand it: you must run BE software on both machines, and configure them in a master/slave pair. THEN you tell the slave that it has a capture card installed. It will inform the master. The master BE configuration is where you would configure options such as "run transcode on slave", etc. -- A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
