I see below that you're using xir. Does that mean that you are using a 2.4 kernel and GentooX? I was under the impression that with a 2.6 kernel I should use xboxusb as my lirc driver. I have to admit that I'm not very sure which the driver should be as I have seen mention or xir, atiusb and xboxusb.
