I don't have the old post in front of me, but the problem your having is
most likely a side effect of a bug in the myth code. The M402U only
supports 48k sampling rates, but when you select 48k the myth encoder
fails to assert this setting and falls through to the default of 41k. So
you get audio that sounds like complete crap. If you search around in
these forums and possibly on the referenced divx forum you will probably
find the 1 line patch that fixes it. I'm pretty sure it was submitted and
fixed in the cvs version as well.

I had the same problem. Chaning the sampling rate to 48000 made a big
difference for me.
