The newer EPIA, not cle266 which is capable of NTSC/PAL, can handle 1080i, at least on the paper. The trouble is in the unichrome project that supports it. Check it out before you decide. I have epia M1K with CLE266 running old unichrome driver (R30) and I am happy so far but feel uncertain for the feature.

I'm looking to build a new frontend and am looking at the EPIA due to
the fanless option which will greatly improve the WAF.  I don't have HD
yet but recognize that it is really coming so I figure I may as well be
ready for it now.  Can the newer EPIA's (SP?) do 1080i in mpeg2?  what
are the limits on the included MPEG2 decoding?
