One thing to keep in mind is that the MythWeb interface allows you to download shows from the backend to any computer.

I usually use this feature in conjunction with a web browser, not the myth frontend.  There are no real technical hurdles except bandwidth (I can stream videos within my house, but there isn't enough bandwidth to stream it over my ISP).  If you use MythWeb and "Save As" from your browser, that should do it.

If you want it integrated into the frontend, I suppose you could write something that either access your friends database directly or scraped info from their MythWeb interface but the real problem is that it is essentially impossible for this to be "On Demand".  If you did want to watch one of their shows you would have to wait for it to queue up.

Hi, is there a way I can share a MythTV system with my friends?

I mean, I would like to see the TV shows that my friends have recorded on MY MythTv box….  And perhaps select them to download to my box when I want to watch them.   (even if I cant watch them right away and I have to wait for the system to download the file)

Is there any way to do that?
