First off how do i tell which pvr 250 in my machine is recorder #4 according to myth? (think that one is going bad) And when i get my pvr 500 how do i make it #1 and #2, and how do i tell myth to use #1 and #2 and #3 for recording and if i leave #4 in there, use that as a last resort?

When the ivtv driver is starting up it will print the serial number of the device:

<snip>
Nov 12 19:29:02 masterbackend kernel: ivtv4: Autodetected WinTV PVR 150 card (iTVC16 based) Nov 12 19:29:02 masterbackend kernel: ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:02:04.0[A] -> GSI 18 (level, low) -> IRQ 169 Nov 12 19:29:02 masterbackend kernel: ivtv4: Unreasonably low latency timer, setting to 64 (was 32)
Nov 12 19:29:02 masterbackend kernel: tveeprom: ivtv version
Nov 12 19:29:02 masterbackend kernel: tveeprom: Hauppauge: model = 26552, rev = B268, serial# = 7826292
                             ^^^^^^^

This serial number is printed on a sticker on the card. Whenever I get hardware I try to find something that's unique, like a serial number or MAC address and use a sharpie marker to write it on the PCI bracket.
