OK, I got it to work late last night....   But I patched the kernel to load the frame buffer earlier and now I can't tune...  (See separate post)

IIRC, in order to get both sound and video using dd, I had to run the
following sequence (this is from memory, so there may be typos.... and I
think the fact that this is from memory proves I've done it way too many
times :):

ivtvctl -p 4
ivtvctl -u 0x3000
ivtvfbctl /dev/fb1 -noglobalalpha -localalpha
dd if=/dev/video0 of=/dev/video16

I don't claim to know what each command does, but I would suspect that the
one you really need is the ivtvfbctl one...
