I have a mythlink script that creates human readable symbolic links. If a file it is expecting is not there it gives a 'file x skipped'
type message. I was thinking of modifying this script so it created
an empty file using touch if the file did not exist. This would then
allow me to delete the file.
Just in case you didn't know (so you don't waste time on somthing we can't use)...

If you're thinking of doing this for yourself, go ahead. If you were thinking of doing it to help the community, however, mythlink.{sh,pl} are gone in SVN (replaced with mythrename.pl--which has all the capabilities of previous mythlinks and more) and SVN allows deletion of file metadata even when the file doesn't exist. Therefore, that type of functionality is no longer required.
