As you suspected it did not fix the problem. Here are the symptoms as best I can see them from 350 miles away: 1) We can set up new recording in MythTV. All of the programmign setup appears to go OK. 2) When it comes time for the recording to start a file is created but it ends up with a size of 0 bytes. Weird... 4) There are no messages in any of the /var/log/mysql/mysql.* files at 10:30AM. 5) Sometimes the mythbackend log file fills up a message waiting for a thread...... I can get 50,000 lines of this message. 6) The message about MYTH_PROTO_VERSION seems to only come after the machine tried to record overnight. 7) The frontend and back end seem to be the same version: 2005-12-02 10:00:07.934 mythbackend version: 0.18.1.20050510-1 www.mythtv.org 2005-12-02 16:03:22.185 mythfrontend version: 0.18.1.20050510-1 www.mythtv.org I have completely rebuilt MythTV from source today. It did not fix the problems. I am terribly, terribly stumped and the PAF (parent acceptance factor) is falling to zero.
