I'm having some pci shortage issues so I'm considering upgrading
my pvr250's to a pvr500. First do people consider the driver
stable (compared to the pvr250) for daily usage? Can the
driver be mixed with a pvr250 in the same machine?

I've mixed the 250 and 500 in the past, worked ok for me. I moved the cards to another box and got rid of the 250's due to slot shortage.

i don't know about the voltage, but stability i can comment on. i've
been using a pvr-500 and a pvr-250 side by side for several months
now. i don't think any of the problems that i've had were due to
either card or the combination (not that i've had a lot of problems. and those problems were most likely my fault anyway. ;)
it's a good combo.

I don't know about voltage either. I've been using my 500 for the past few months in the new box with good results. I originally had severe driver stability issues and would have to reload the ivtv module a couple times a week. I've only had to reload the module twice in the past 2 months now, when tuner 0 loses audio. After reloading ivtv and related modules, audio returns.

It is a bit annoying to discover that several most recent recordings lack audio and have to delete them and reload the modules, but it seems less frequent with each driver upgrade I've done, so I'm encouraged.

The last time the audio problem happened, I noticed a previous recording that looked like the cable signal was bad. I suspect this had something to do with killing the audio capture. I don't really know though.
