I've noticed that the MJPEG settings leave quite a few artifacts using
the default settings. I've tried raising the quality setting to no
avail. I was wondering what everyone is using in terms of the encoding
settings.
Another thought I've been tossing around is buying a PVR250 since they
lower the cpu demand of the backend system. If I did this, do the
recordings still go through the mjpeg step, or are they stored in the
mpeg2 the card puts out.
PVR-250 cards (and 150 and 500) output MPEG-2 directly in hardware so no
MJPEG is recorded. You can transcode post-recording to MPEG-4 to save
space if you want.
